Mother Velankani Education Trust celebrated Journalist Day with great enthusiasm and reverence on 6th January 2025. The event was organised by Vasai Virar Journalist Union and Mother Velankani Education Trust. The event aimed to honor journalists’ pivotal role in shaping public opinion and fostering societal growth. Held at the institution’s auditorium, the celebration brought together students, faculty, and invited dignitaries for a memorable occasion.
The chief guest present were Chairperson of Mother Velankani Education Trust Mrs. Asha Mathew Dsouza, MLA of Vasai Mrs. Sneha Dubey, MLA of Nalasopara Mr. Rajan Naik, MP of Palghar District Dr. Hemant Savra, Ex MLA of Nalasopara Mr. Kshitij Thakur, the Chairman of today’s program Mr. Raymond Machado, and the Chairperson of Vasai Virar Journalism Union Mr. Anil Raj Rokade.
The program commenced at 10.00 am with an invocation and lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries. Felicitation of the Chief guest was done with the token of love. Mrs. Asha Dsouza welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of Journalist Day. She emphasized the responsibility of journalists in delivering unbiased news and their influence in strengthening democracy. She also felicitated Mr. Raymond Machado Sir who has competed his 75 years of age and has given immense contribution in the field of Journalism.
The keynote address was delivered by an esteemed journalist Mr. Anil Raj Rokade. He shared insights on the challenges and ethical dilemmas faced by journalists in the digital age and encouraged aspiring media professionals to uphold truth and integrity.
Present chiefguest Mr. Rajan Naik, Mr. Kshitij Thakur, Mrs. Sneha Dubey, Mr. Hemant Savra and Mr. Raymond Machado also shared their insights on this auspicious day.
In concluding remarks, Mrs. Asha Dsouza, the Chairperson of the trust, applauded the efforts of the organizing committee and reiterated the institution’s commitment to fostering media literacy among students. She urged the young minds to be responsible consumers and creators of information.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Anil Raj Roakde, followed by the National Anthem. The event was a resounding success, leaving the attendees inspired and appreciative of the crucial role journalism plays in society.
