The spirit of Diwali was joyfully celebrated through a vibrant Deepotsav Celebration organized at Mother Velankani School and Junior College and on 16th October 2025, beginning at 9:30 AM. The event was aimed at instilling cultural values among students and encouraging active participation from both students and parents in traditional festivities.
The celebration commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, in the presence of our esteemed Principal Ma’am, and teachers. Students from all classes, dressed in beautiful traditional attire, contributed to the festive atmosphere. They were encouraged to bring sweets and decorated diyas, which they later used to participate in diya decoration and lighting activities, creating a mesmerizing display of lights that lit up the entire school premises.
A special highlight of this year’s celebration was the Rangoli and Mehendi competitions organized for the parents of students from Pre-Primary to Class 12. Parents were invited at 9:30 AM, and it was heartwarming to witness their enthusiastic participation. The Rangoli competition showcased incredible creativity and vibrant traditional designs, while the Mehendi competition reflected artistic skills and cultural heritage.
The winners of the Rangoli competition were:
1st Prize: Mrs. Savita Kamble (JR KG Parent)
2nd Prize: Mrs. Vibha Mishra (Class 5 Parent)
3rd Prize: Mrs. Namrita Vaidan (JR KG Parent)
In the Mehendi competition,
Mrs. Namrita Vaidan (JR KG Parent) was declared the winner for her exceptional design.
At the heart of Deepotsav lies the message of light, hope, and renewal. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, celebrates the triumph of good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. It is a time of family, togetherness, gratitude, and festive joy. Our school’s Deepotsav celebration was a true reflection of these values, bringing together students, teachers, and parents in a meaningful and joyous way.
The event concluded on a joyful note, leaving everyone with smiles, cherished memories, and a deeper connection to our rich cultural traditions.
